Intense but less dramatic brows

10850074_803207819743538_5393602846728291705_n

Transitioning to bold, strong and thick eyebrows may require some time to adjust, staring with a lot of patience for them to fill in especially if you have thinner eyebrows. Trust us when we say this – there is nothing that enhances your natural beauty than a pair of thick intense eyebrows. So here are some reasons for you to consider growing your brows into a bolder, thicker shape:

  • When done properly, strong eyebrows alone can serve as foundation, the need to apply makeup gets less.
  • How the eyebrows are falling can actually pinpoint to their natural growth pattern. This should be kept in mind when shaping your brows.
  • The bold, thick eyebrows can draw away from dark circles, giving a healthy glow instead.
  • Needless to say, they help you look more youthful and radiant, reflecting the effortless kind of beauty we all adore.
  • Full brows can work for anyone, given you find the right shape and reach those perfect proportions.

Key for this look is allowing the brow hairs from the front of the brow to the arch to grow longer. Keep your hands of tweezers and scissors.

If thick eyebrows is something you are considering, speak to us, ask us questions, we’ll be more than happy to help!

Lemon juice for scars

147688-283x424-woman-holding-lemonLemon juice is a great natural remedy for lightening minor scars. But like any natural remedy you have to be regular in application to see the results. Simply apply fresh lemon juice onto the scar with a cotton bud (Q tip) 2-3 times a day. Yes it may sting for about a minute, but it’s well worth it! Make sure you cleanse your face before applying lemon. Along with lightening the scars it will also help your skin restore some elasticity! Try this out and let us know, has it made a difference to your skin?

A miracle for dry hands

HelpingHands

If you have extremely sore and dry hands or normal dry hands, I personally find Helping Hands (hand cream) from Lush is truly an amazing product. You must try it.

Although I do not have sore hands, I do notice my hands feeling dry during the day (especially in winter) and find myself applying hand cream several times to keep my hands moisturised.

In the case of Helping Hands cream, I applied it in the morning and noticed my hands were surprisingly moisturised for the whole day. Even after washing my hands several times, they felt hydrated, nourished and moisturised. There was no need to re-apply the cream. The difference is noticeable after just one application. Truly impressed.

The cream is not too greasy, the smell is neutral and nice – nothing too strong. I would say both men and women can use it. It is very nourishing and great value for money (£7.50/100gm).

Looks like this may be my all time favourite hand cream – I’m loving it.

Hair braids and Hair extensions

hair-weave-track

Beauty should not hurt, if you’ve had hair extensions weaved in and your head hurts, that’s possibly because your braids are too tight.

Do not ignore this by taking aspirin! Tension is not good for your hair, hairline and scalp – this will cause damage. So make sure that your stylist is not braiding your hair too tight when preparing your hair for weaving. This will be painful and cause the hair to break – leading to hair extensions horror stories.

Getting your hair braided should not be painful, before, during or after.

If you have any questions about hair extensions, contact us and speak to our experts!

Trimming your brows

brow cutTo complete your defined brow look, trim your brows to perfection. When trimming your eyebrows, use a disposable or an old mascara brush to comb the hair upwards and then trim the long hairs. Do not over cut your hair as these will stick out of your brow shape which looks  odd. If you comb them up and nothing stands out, they probably don’t need to be trimmed. Brush them back in to shape. The result will be a much more defined brows!

Bye Bye Dark Circles

coconuts-and-coconut-oil

Recently we found that coconut oil does work well to reduce dark circles. Here’s the thing, before you go to sleep, dab some pure coconut oil on the eye lids and under the eye making sure your dark circles are covered (don’t forget to remove your makeup and cleanse your skin beforehand). Leave this on and go off to sleep. When you wake up just wipe away with a warm wet flannel.

Make this your routine for the next 3 weeks every night and see the difference. It gives a soothe effect to the eyes from within and also helps you fall asleep. Try it and let us know!

Brow Enhancing Pencil

HighBrow

Perfectly threaded brows + High Brow pencil is all you need to have brows that make a statement.

Benefit High Brow is all about defining the brow. It’s designed to highlight the brow bone which lifts and enhances the brows with a “soft matte linen-pink” shade. The colour is very subtle and natural looking (of course you can go heavy-handed or light-handed, depending on the effect you desire). The application can be explained in 3 easy steps:

  1. Apply under your brow following your arch on brow bone toward the outer corner
  2. Lightly dot above the arch to clean the shape
  3. Blend with finger (the creamy texture surely makes it easy to blend!)

One of the great things about High Brow is that it so versatile. You can use it for more minimal looks or even on its own when you are going for a natural look.

We like High Brow for more minimal looks; using it under the shaped and filled brows with pop of mascara – this frames your eyes perfectly for a natural look. The creaminess of the product makes it easy to blend, and it dries down quickly and holds up fairly well alone (about six hours).

Try it out, it’s  a simple must have and easy to use!

Hot Chocolate, it’s not all naughty

Brek26.jpgWhen welcoming the crisp chilly days and nights of winter, nothing is more alluring than knowing the health benefits of drinking hot chocolate, right?! So here goes:

Cocoa and heart

Tea, apples, onions, and red wine all help to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, due to their content of beneficial antioxidant polyphenols. Basically this is great for cardio-protection and guess what, cocoa has one of the highest antioxidant polyphenol content!

Help reduce blood pressure

Oh and even small amounts of cocoa can reduce cholesterol in the blood, and can lower blood pressure. Even more, regular intake of cocoa has been shown to improve overall function of vein and arteries.

Cocoa and Antioxidants

Science Daily also states that drinking cocoa may help to fight cancer, heart disease and aging through its antioxidant boosting effect. But most commercial cocoa powders have the antioxidant-containing flavonoids removed because they taste bitter; therefore, in order to obtain the health boosting benefits, consider buying raw cocoa powder, which is a minimally processed cocoa powder!

What’s more? It helps lower LDL cholesterol, reduces the risk of blood clots, increase blood flow to the arteries, lower high blood pressure, boosts cognitive performance and provides essential minerals such as calcium and potassium. We’re sure you didn’t need to read till here to grab yourself a warm yummy hot chocolate! (Remember raw coco powder and stick to a small serving to get your fix without wrecking your waistline).

While we are at it, how about a small tiny piece of lemon drizzle

Which hot drink is your warm companion throughout winter?
